Urbanization all over the world has compromised the environment instead of contributing to it. At Dwar, we have changed this by building homes that are not just aesthetically appealing but also ecologically and socially responsible. Intersections, often at cross-purposes, exist between the planet, people and profit; a fine balance needs to be achieved between all three. We lead the way to realizing this ideal.
Dwar is a consortium of creative minds that have come together with a common goal
of creating meaningfully designed living spaces in the city of Bangalore. This flourishing endeavour had humble beginnings, which can be traced back to a single piece of land on Dickenson Road. The process of acquiring this plot, restoring its heritage value and transforming it into a residential asset led to the birth of an idea. One successful project inspired a greater vision – of building handcrafted homes that make mindful architecture accessible to all those who want more than just a roof over their head. Thus, Dwar was born.
The homes we build are almost free of mass-produced or factory made design elements. All our work is done on site, and an exceptional effort is made in handpicking all building components. Additionally, indigenous hand-crafted alternatives are used wherever possible. Intricate embellishments like exposed brick and stone walls, mirror frames, ceramic and artefacts created from recycled materials, terracotta jali blocks, wrought iron railings and carved woodwork add to the uniquely
hand-made feel of every villa.
Our unique aesthetic is born from a fondness for indigenous art
